PRINCIPLES EXPLANATION

Each of the Reiki Ideals will have their own personal perspective for you as an individual.

Some People have altered the original Reiki Ideals – often as they did not like them or because they felt uneasy with them.

I, myself changed the Reiki Ideal of "Honour your Parents, Teachers, Elders, Friends and Neighbours¨ to something that I felt more comfortable with at that time.

If you feel uneasy or challenged by any of the Ideals, you may need to do some personal work in that area.

********************************************************

JUST FOR TODAY, DO NOT ANGER, ACCEPT

JUST FOR TODAY, DO NOT WORRY, ACCEPT

JUST FOR TODAY, HONOUR YOUR PARENTS, TEACHERS,

ELDERS, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS

JUST FOR TODAY, WORK HARD AND EARN YOUR LIVING HONESTLY

JUST FOR TODAY, SHOW KINDNESS AND RESPECT

FOR ALL LIFE.

An important part of the Reiki Ideals is ¨JUST FOR TODAY¨.

Claim the way that you live, today, now, in the present.

The way that you live your life, in this day, has a ripple effect to all around you and will affect your future.

Every situation, circumstance or person that we experience is a mirror, a direct expression of the Divine Law of cause and effect, created by ourselves.

¨If you want to know your past life, look at your present condition, if you want to know your future life, look at your present actions.¨ – Buddha.

Every thought, feeling and action has an energy.

Be mindful of what you emanate today.

JUST FOR TODAY, DO NOT ANGER, ACCEPT:

On a Physical Level, anger causes our blood vessels to constrict, raising blood pressure and causing our hearts to beat faster and faster.

Anger is not good for you! People who feel anger a lot of the time are prime heart attack candidates.

Anger causes dis-ease within the energy bodies.

We get angry because a situation, someone or something is out of our control.

To desire control is borne out of fear, which keeps us in separateness. Separated from the Universe and The Divine and its` natural, balanced harmonised flow.

JUST FOR TODAY, DO NOT WORRY, ACCEPT:

Worry causes energy to block.

It blocks ideas, solutions, abundance and causes anxiety.

Release yourself from worry. Live in the NOW.

Live today to the best of your ability, do what can be done today, then ¨LET GO¨, safe in the knowledge that you have done everything within your power that you possibly can, the rest is up to the universe.

It is a Divine Law that whatever you put your attention on- grows.

Worrying is akin to praying for what you do not want.

Worrying becomes a powerful mantra attracting exactly the things that you are worrying about.

GIVE UP Worrying and count your blessings, show gratitude for your blessings.

Live in the NOW, and ideas, solutions and abundance will flow.

JUST FOR TODAY, HONOUR YOUR PARENTS, TEACHERS, ELDERS, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS:

This Ideal is about Forgiveness.

Parents, Teachers, Elders, Friends and Neighbours.

We do not want anyone to hurt us, these groups of people most of all. When they do it can be emotionally devastating.

These are the hardest people for us to forgive, but once you have forgiven and blessed them, they are unable to hurt you anymore. You can then let go and release the pain from your life.

Don´t forget to forgive yourself.

JUST FOR TODAY, WORK HARD AND EARN YOUR LIVING HONESTLY

Work hard on yourself, work hard at meditation, work hard to bring yourself into harmony and joy.

Are you being honest with yourself about how you are living your life?

Are you living your life without hurting others?

Are you being honest about your truth?

JUST FOR TODAY, SHOW KINDNESS AND RESPECT FOR ALL LIFE

This Ideal means to Live in Compassion.

¨Compassion can be roughly defined in terms of a state of mind that is non-violent, non-aggressive and non-harming.

It is a mental attitude based on the wish for others-other people and other sentient beings, to be free of their suffering and is associated with a sense of commitment, responsibility and respect toward the other¨

¨In generating compassion, you start by recognising that you do not want suffering and that you have a right to happiness. This can be verified and validated by your own experience. You then recognise that others, just like yourself, also do not want to suffer and that they have a right to happiness.

So this becomes the basis of your beginning to generate compassion¨

His Holiness, Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Larma.
